CeraShield is not a treatment for decay. It is an ultra-thin laminate from the Ceramel line, used for cervical abrasion — the wear of enamel near the gum line that can make a tooth sensitive or leave a notch.
The outer surface of the tooth is trimmed only lightly, the tooth is scanned, and the restoration is made to follow the gum line and bonded to the front of the tooth. The clinic states that it is completed in one treatment.
It is considered for sensitivity in particular teeth, for people who clench or grind, for thin or receding gum lines, and for those who brush hard from side to side — sometimes even without pain.
