Gum contouring is considered when too much gum shows and upsets the balance of the smile, when the tooth-to-gum ratio is uneven, or when the gums have receded or enlarged.
After an examination, the plan is designed around your aims. Under local anaesthesia the gums are reshaped with a minimally invasive technique; the clinic uses a water-droplet laser. Most cases are completed in one session of about 10 to 20 minutes, and most patients return to daily life within a day or two.
